With International Lawyer from eyeWitness to Atrocities, Nadeshda Jayakody

In collaboration with SOAS UN Society, we are hosting an International Women’s Day Special event. Nadeshda Jayakody, international human rights lawyer and legal advisor at eyeWitness to Atrocities, is joining us for a discussion on Women in Conflict Zones & Developing Nations. With extensive experience in international human rights, humanitarian law, and transitional justice, Nadeshda will share insights on documenting atrocities and advocating for justice, through her work with NGOs and the UN in Iraq, Sri Lanka, Australia, New York, and London.

In Iraq, Nadeshda served as Legal Advocacy Coordinator at Yazda in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, focusing on justice for Yazidi survivors of ISIS crimes. She played a crucial role in documenting international crimes, advocating for survivor-centred transitional justice, and pushing for the criminalization of atrocity crimes within Iraqi law.

To register interest in the event, please fill in this form. The talk will take place in Room B203, Brunei Building at SOAS University.
